How milk changes the cup
Steamed milk stretches a small shot into a longer drink. Fine bubbles create a smooth texture while the larger milk ratio softens bitterness and acidity.
Adjust milk and coffee separately
- A larger latte usually means more milk, but it may also contain another shot. Ask about shot count if you want to control the caffeine.
- If you enjoy the creamy texture but want clearer coffee flavour, ask about a smaller serving with the same espresso dose.
- At home, pour smoothly textured warm milk over espresso. Keep the foam light rather than scooping a large dry cap onto the cup.
What does it taste like?
A latte is creamy, mellow and easy to flavour. Espresso is present, but milk carries the drink and gives it a softer finish.
What about caffeine?
The caffeine comes from the espresso. A larger latte does not necessarily mean more caffeine unless it contains more shots.
Who might enjoy it?
- You enjoy a smooth, milk-forward coffee.
- You are trying espresso drinks for the first time.
- You want a cup that works with a sweet baked treat.
